Few men contributed that much to the evolution of flyfishing than this grandson of a swiss peasant, renowned among the gotha. At the age of 26 in 1917, this slim young man is sent in New York by his father, the founder of the famous hotel. While completing his formation, Charles Ritz spends his time to refurbish split bamboo rods, bought inpawn shop nearby. |
He leaves as an heritage several books, one written with Tony Burnand in 1938, "A la Mouche", then his masterpiece "A Fly Fisher's Life". The book, printed in 1953 in French, was published in English ten times, translated into German "Erlebtes Fliegenfischen", Italian "Una Vita per Pesca" and Japanese as well. |
