Trophy Charles C Ritz

The 10th Trophy Charles C Ritz is to be held on Sunday September 18th, 2005 at the Cercle du Bois de Boulogne - Tir aux Pigeons, route de l'Etoile - Paris. It will gather the members of International Fario Club and their guests for a friendly casting tournament.

This competition has 3 events. The distance flycasting one hand in the morning, the two accurary's after lunch : The Brook Stream and the Arenberg target.

For this 10th edition, the Club will exhibit Charles C. Ritz's flyfishing hertitage

We will show a display of the river management achieved by Charles Ritz Conservation Award 2004 winner, the Mouche Charlevalaise.

Accuracy event

The competitor tries to cast a fly in the center of one of each 5 floating targets laid out on the small river of the Tir aux Pigeons. He will get a mark on 100 points for his accuracy and presentation, using his own tackle or the one borrowed, the real fly is replaced by a woolen one.

d'Arenberg target event

The d'Arenberg target , invented in 1909 by Prince Pierre d' Arenberg, is the second accuracy event of the Trophy Charles Ritz. The competitor, at five different spots around the 14X14 feet target tries to cast a fly in the center. He will get a matrk on 100 points.

All the competitors and their guests gather for the lunch. The Charles C.Ritz Conservation Award last year winner will display his actions for river management in Normandy.

Flycasting Distance one hand Event


The competitor goes up on a pontoon built on the lake of the Tir aux Pigeons, then has 3 minutes to achieve a good cast. His best performance taken in meters is granted, and multiplied by 6 to get a mark on max 200 points


Eventually, when every competitor has returned his marks leaflet to the control, the Trophy Charles Ritz goes to best flycaster. Other competitors are also rewarded; the best lady, the best junior, best amateur. A special award is offered to the best using a bamboo rod.
